THE TOURISM COMPANY AND WAPA TELEVISION JOIN IN THE VOY TURISTEANDO PUERTO RICO PROJECT TO PROMOTE INTERNAL TOURISM IN THE SUMMER

San Juan, PR – The executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (CTPR), Carla Campos, announced an initiative that will be carried out in conjunction with Wapa Televisión to promote Internal Tourism during the summer. Voy Turisteando Puerto Rico will impact all Tourist Regions through a series of events for the enjoyment of the whole family from July 1 to August 5.

“With the series of events Voy Turisteando Puerto Rico, we aim to reach the Puerto Rican people, the cornerstone of tourism on our Island. Internal tourism accounts for 40% of the economic activity of the sector annually. Promoting Internal Tourism not only makes economic sense, but it is also a priority for our people to know the benefits of our Island and thus stand out as excellent hosts to those who visit us from abroad. Our latest social media and web platform, VoyTuristeando.com, reaches the local market with a message encouraging Internal Tourism throughout the year. During the summer, the initiative activates with Wapa across the Island to continue driving tourism as the spearhead of our economic resurgence, as commissioned by the governor, Ricardo Rosselló,” expressed the executive director of the Tourism Company, Carla Campos.

The activities of Voy Turisteando Puerto Rico will be held in a festive environment, integrating talents from all local productions of Wapa Televisión. Additionally, it will include artistic performances on stage, singing and sports competitions, as well as educational games for both adults and children that will promote greater knowledge about the municipalities and tourist attractions of Puerto Rico, among others.

“Voy Turisteando represents the perfect route for the upcoming Sundays. Our beaches will be stops that integrate sports and family in a fun environment, making it perfect in the middle of summer. The volleyball nets, soccer goals, and domino tables are ready for our people to celebrate their sports skills in a totally family-friendly atmosphere,” said the Secretary of Recreation and Sports, Adriana Sánchez Parés.

For this great effort that will reach Luquillo, Vega Baja, Cabo Rojo, Toa Baja, Ponce, and Aibonito, the Tourism Company coordinated inter-agency efforts with the Department of Recreation and Sports, the Department of Natural Resources, the State Police, and Municipal entities, among others.

For its part, the strategic alliance with WAPA Televisión will allow reaching all households in Puerto Rico with the broadcast of interventions from different points on the Island. The promotional campaign includes a jingle with the chorus With Wapa and Tourism in celebration to unify the message, as well as mentions throughout the channel's programming.

“For us, this is a great opportunity to share with our people and thank our viewers for the great support they give us every day. As a Puerto Rican channel, we are proud to join the Tourism Company to promote internal tourism. Additionally, our artists are very excited to be able to reach the entire Island to share with the followers who show them their affection daily,” commented Javier Maynulet, president of Wapa Televisión.

The itinerary for visits to the different Tourist Regions is as follows:

  • July 1 – Eastern Area – Luquillo Beach
  • July 8 – Atlantic Port – Vega Baja Beach
  • July 15 – Sun Port – Boquerón Beach
  • July 22 – Metro – Punta Salinas Beach in Toa Baja
  • July 29 – Caribbean Port – La Guancha in Ponce
  • August 5 – Cordillera Port – Public Plaza in Aibonito
