DELTA AND THE PUERTO RICO TOURISM COMPANY CELEBRATE INCREASE IN FREQUENCIES AND THE 65TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE AIRLINE ON THE ISLAND
San Juan, PR June 11, 2018 – As previously announced, last Friday, June 8, 2018, Delta Air Lines began operating a new daily flight on the route from Atlanta (ATL) to San Juan (SJU), thus increasing its frequency from three to four daily flights between the two cities. That same afternoon, the appointed executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (CTPR), Carla Campos, welcomed Natalie Foster, Caribbean operations director, and a large group of Delta executives and other guests at La Arcada of the La Princesa Building to commemorate the airline's 65th anniversary in Puerto Rico, the station with the longest uninterrupted service in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The new frequency for the ATL-SJU route will operate during the summer months. Starting September 2, three daily flights will continue to operate, and on December 1, a fourth daily frequency will be permanently established for 2019 and beyond. The fourth permanent frequency represents an increase in capacity of over 65,000 seats annually.
As part of the celebration, the head of the CTPR presented Mrs. Foster with a plaque in recognition of the airline's commitment to Puerto Rico. “On behalf of Governor Ricardo Rosselló Nevares and the Government of Puerto Rico, we thank Delta for the past six decades of service and ongoing commitment to the Island. The airline has proven to be a great business ally that continues to grow and expand its operations with the purpose of providing its customers with excellent service. For this reason, it is a great pleasure for the Tourism Company to celebrate alongside the airline, customers, and industry partners the 65 years of uninterrupted service of Delta in Puerto Rico,” expressed Carla Campos, appointed executive director of the CTPR.
“Delta is part of the history of Puerto Rico and our team proudly serves each customer, whether traveling to visit friends and family, for business, or tourists who help our economy,” expressed Michael Luciano, Delta Station Manager, San Juan. “Our San Juan team has had the privilege of serving distinguished composers, artists, sports superstars, and beauty queens, each representing the pride and legacy of Puerto Rico in the world,” added Luciano.
Delta operates its ATL-SJU route with a Boeing 757-200 aircraft with 180 seats. For more information visit Delta.com.
